Artist's Note
In geology, ‘druse’ is the incrustation of small crystals on the surface of a rock or mineral. Emily interpreted this phenomena with references to lava flows, igneous rock formations, and the pitted, gnarled forms of mineral samples, to form the Druse Ring.
The yellow gold, ‘Drift’ variant of the Druse is set with subtle pastel-coloured sapphires from Montana, many of which are alluvial, meaning they are found in river-bed deposits and gravel bars.

The sapphires in this piece naturally formed approximately 150—300 million years ago. Each stone has a unique and unrepeatable colour palette, caused by trace elements surrounding the sapphire crystal as it was formed. As a result, each individual piece is unique, with subtle colour variation in the stones. All of our stones are responsibly sourced with strict human rights and environmental due diligence on trusted, reputable suppliers. They are set by hand in West Cornwall.
