Spring colours along the coast path
A mid March walk at Lamorna begins on the woodland track down to the cove. This year's first episode of blazing sunlight reassuringly hints that winter's tireless storms are easing, offering us a leeway into spring.
Once on the clifftop footpath, a seemingly bare landscape shortly reveals a bright medley of surprises on the craggy coastline. Backdrops of the familiar granite formations are draped with buttery gorse and blossom. A cloudy sea is illuminated to reveal the ocean's teal tones and the greens of the rock pools.
As spring rumbles on, pink swathes of thrift will soon flourish around the Cornish headlands.
